Many bus drivers have hemorrhoids.

My uncle was a local transit operator who worked mainly in Richmond. The long hours of bouncing around on his buttox left him with sever debilitating hemorrhoids. I am not sure if this would have been so if he didn't eat so much at casino buffets. He was also a severe gambler who lost a fortune at the slots. He did not have children so I couldn't really chastise him for it. He always knew where the cheapest gas around was and was into radio code points or whatever to win prizes.

 

Any repetitive physical action can be harmful to health. All workers should be mandated to take breaks to let at least some of the cumulative effect wear off.

I agree with Vivek that any repetitive physical action can be harmful to health. In your uncle's case, it was unfortunate however as you stated he was also a gambler and that could have contributed as well or something else. I personally know three Translink operators and none of them have ever mentioned any physical health issue because of their job.

There is a bus driver that posts on this forum quite a bit. I don't know if he gambles a lot but he is always helping people find jobs and new places to eat. Somebody posted that he is very lucky and won over $5 million on the lottery a few years ago.

My former girlfriend is a colossal hemorrhoid, a pain in the rear. That's why I broke up with her. We are still pals, but I cannot live in a relationship ( much less a marriage! ) with Preparation H.

Isnt that why cabbies have those beaded seat covers? Maybe more bus drivers should invest in them. And hey, what about " stretch" breaks where they can stop the bus and walk around the block? Sure, take the passengers with you, just dont buy snacks on the way.
