Stand up Stand-up - Sunday June 3 - In The House Festival 9

    Paul Bae
    Jy Harris
    David C. Jones

Are you ready to laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh? Don’t forget to bring a healthy amount of tissues to wipe up those tears of laughter. You’ll need them as these comics lay on the best medecine there is.

Paul Bae: As a former high school teacher, Paul brought an inspiring mixture of laughter and learning into the classroom. After 7 years, he found that it was more fun laughing at his students than with them, and that's when he took to the stand-up stage. Since 2000, Paul has appeared in amny comedy competitions and festivals, including Montreal's Just for Laughs and Vancouver's CanWest Comedy Festival. He represented Vancouver in Yuk Yuk's Search for Canada's Funniest new Comic on the Comedy Network and was a semi-finalist in the San Francisco Comedy Competition. He can be seen on CBC specials "Sleeping With The Elephant" and "Western Alienation" as well as CTV's Comedy Now! he has been a regular voice on the hit CBC Radio series, The Debaters. As one of three top Asian comics in Canada, Paul Bae is changing the face of comedy.

Jy Harris: Jy is a standup comic and slam poet who has been performing around the world for 10 years. Highlights include appearances at the Just For Laughs Festival, the top late night talk show in Amsterdam: "Rayman Is Laat" and his own one hour "Comedy Now" Special on CTV and the Comedy Network. Acting highlights range from a recurring role as a failed pornstar on "The Jerry Springer Show" to the comedic lead in the upcoming stoner/zombie flick "Bong of the Dead" and a role in the new Seth Rogen movie "I'm With Cancer." Jy was the opening act on Jon Lajoie and Pauly Shore's
recent tours. He has red hair and loves cats more than humans.http://www.jyharris.tv/

David C. Jones: Character Actor/improviser/storyteller - Although David C. Jones won the Georgia Straight's Best Comedian in Vancouver award 2 years in a row, he is not a traditional stand-up comedian. Whether dressed as a wild character or just in his own hyper persona, he tells stories and interacts with the audience with a combination of improvised mayhem and written material. He is the proud founder of The Laughter Mission Society, which helps bring comedic performers to organizations that deal with life-threatening and terminal illnesses. In 2009, the readers of Xtra West honored him with a Community Hero nomination. The Georgia Straight states "David C. Jones knows how to use focus and rhythm, he is very, very funny." It is praise like that that has David traveling all over the world acting as a liaison and hosting corporate incentive trips, including St. Moritz, Switzerland, Rome and Sydney, Australia. The Province newspaper called him "A comedic chameleon." That said, he requests "please lower your expectations." http://www.davidcjones.ca/
