I had a really entertaining bus driver on the 70X going downtown from Swartz Bay who mentioned that he used to drive in Vancouver. That made me wonder if the salaries are comparable between Translink and BC Transit?

I still find it really funny that Victorians call the bus "full" when there's hardly anyone standing . The buses in Vic also don't really stick to their schedule I find, they are either 3-5 minutes early or late. Since some routes only come every 20-30 minutes, trip planning can be problematic.

Prior to 1999, Vancouver and Victoria were the same company= BC Transit, although separate divisions... Operators could go back and forth once a year, if desired...

The top rate for Conventional drivers in Vancouver is $29 an hour... In Victoria $26 an hour...
The top rate for Community Shuttle in Vancouver is $23 an hour, and not quite $21 an hour in Victoria...

Operators in both cities are represented by the Canadian Auto Workers union, although separate locals...

Operators in West Vancouver (Blue Buses) are employees of the district of West Vancouver, and are represented by the Amalgamated Transit Union...
