I am currently employed as a security, working graveyard shifts 11pm-7am, $11/h. And as we all know how expensive Vancouver is I was thinking to get one more job during the day. But most of the security jobs are asking to be flexible, be willing to work all shifts. So I tried to apply at few places but when they asked what's my availability they always say "if we don't call you by Friday, don't hope". I am willing to work any work, painting, warehouse, security, full time or part time but it's not easy to find something from 8-4 or 2-10. Any ideas where to look? Thanks

I sympathize with you, deeply. I came to Vancouver in late April and I started searching Craigslist like crazy. No time to lose when there's a new posting came up. After 4 or 5 days, I got an interview for pizza delivery job and got the job. I had zero experience. The job is 6 hours a day at $10.25 per hour. I went to work but continued searching Craigslist and guess what, I got another interview 10 days later. A web marketing job, which I have been doing for the past 8 years. I know it may not help you much but all I want you to do is be hopeful. Good luck to you!

Oh and BTW, I went to angus one and temp-line job agency at 777 Hornby too. They gave me a few temp offers like CSR jobs and data entry jobs but I didn't accept. Do you wish to try?

"B.C. is now in a period of net interprovincial out-migration," says Ken Peacock, chief economist at the Business Council of B.C.

People are leaving BC for better job opportunities and cheaper housing in other provinces.
