This info from the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver is not helpful.

    1) Is the Metrotown area Burnaby East, Burnaby South and Burnaby North?
    2) Is the Brentwood Park (Brentwood Mall) area Burnaby East, Burnaby South and Burnaby North?
    3) Apartment prices in Burnaby South is $377,200. Is that 1-bed, 2-bed or 3-bed? Perhaps it is better to list price per square foot instead of $377,200?

Not useful at all, I just spent 20 minutes on their website looking for geographical definitions. You think they'd have a map of some sort . I did find a document on the methodology they use to calculate benchmark price though: http://www.rebgv.org/sites/default/files/HPI Methodology2012.pdf. It appears that benchmark price reflect the common characteristics of a particular neighbour.

Maybe the REBGV deliberately keeps the geographical boundaries vague and undefined so they can manipulate statistics to their liking :S.
Here is what I can infer from the homes listed on a realtor's site (Jay Banks), it gives you a better idea of location but still no concrete borders unfortunately.
Burnaby South - Deer Lake, Big Bend, Buckingham Heights, Forest Glen, Upper Deer Lake, Metrotown, Burnaby Lake, South Slope, Central Park, Garden Village
Burnaby East - East Burnaby, Edmonds, The Crest
Burnaby North - Parkcrest, Government Road, Simon Fraser University, Capitol Hill, Sperling-Duthie, Westridge, Vancouver Heights, Central, Brentwood Park, Willingdon Heights

Maybe a realtor can chime in since they'd know more?

Thanks for the list of neighbourhoods of Burnaby East, Burnaby South and Burnaby North. Your post is more helpful than the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver.
