Good morning! On a side note: www.delta.ca/ has a new posting up for PT mini bus drivers for their new seniors bus. Must already have the appropriate license.

Hello!! I have been looking over some paddles, the ones out of Oakridge. I understand most of it but some things I don't quite get yet. I'm sure it will all make sense soon. 12 more days till I start my training. Super excited!! Tomorrow I have an appointment for my uniform at 1:00. I wonder if I will get to bring them home then or will I have to wait for them to be ordered.? Also should we be worried about this strike vote coming up? I'm trying not to but I'm a natural worrier.

At least you won't have to worry about trolleys to start off with, so you have that going for you...good luck!!

It will make total sense when your training is complete! :) When I went for my uniform fitting, I got all of my items that day and took them home in a huge bag so unless it's changed, I expect they still want you to wear them during training. 2 pants, 2 shorts, 3 long-sleeved shirts, 3 short-sleeved shirts, 1 baseball cap, 1 tie, 1 vest, 1 fleece jacket OR rain jacket, 1 water bottle and 1 safety vest is what I got at that time. After some time and you are out of your probationary period (?), you begin to build points to "buy" more/new items as you need them - I think 30 a month.

As to your last question... at this point it's just a vote. As I understand it, a strong show of support/non-support by the membership of any union can help the bargaining committee determine the best/next course of action. As for your particular case, I'm not sure what potential job action does to training schedules because at the beginning of training you are assigned your seniority number but I am not sure if you are technically part of the the union yet...

Maybe someone else knows? At worst, call the training department if it comes to it, but I am positive they will let you know one way or the other.

I went for my fitting yesterday. 4 pairs of pants, 4 pairs of shorts, 2 long sleeve shirts, 4 short sleeve shirts, vest,I picked the rain jacket, and I chose the baseball cap, water bottle and the reflective vest. The sucky part is tho I don't get the uniform til after I pass the road test. I just got the reflective vest which is so big for me it's a 2x. Which I have to wear for training. So I'm kind of stumped on what ican wear for training. She told me they changed the rules. 400 dollars worth of gear so they want to make sure you pass the road test before they give it to you. Also the pants are so long on me. I'm only 5 4so ill need to get them hemmed once I get them.
I'll find out Wednesday once I go to Sapperton to sign the documents. Does anyone know if I'll at least get my employee compass card right away or do I have to wait for that too???
How did the strike vote go???

FYI: West Vancouver Blue Buses is in need of their version of Community Shuttle Operators. I believe you need to already have the appropriate license.

www.westvancouver.ca/ OR www.civicinfo.bc.ca/careers/ and scroll down to postings dated April 29.

Strike Vote: I was away for the vote but am reading the unions bulletin that 98% of those who voted voted in favour of strike action to back the bargaining committees positions against any concessions.

Still have at least 2 more Bargaining meetings planned for May. No need to panic yet.

Strike pay is $250 a week after the first week. Don't get anything for the first week. Back in 2001 all drivers were required to picket 6 hours a week.

If you have access to Unifor Local #111 or 2200's websites or Facebook pages; there is lots of information and discussions going on there.
