... here's how property owners in british columbia can fight back against onerous taxation:

    1. when you receive your property tax assessment, submit a bill of your own for $1,000 to the finance minister charging the crown for "reviewing" the document.

    2. when you receive your property tax bill, submit a bill of your own for $1,000 to the finance minister charging the crown for "reviewing" the document.

    3. when you pay your property tax bill, submit a bill of your own for $1,000 to the finance minister charging the crown for remitting payment to them.

... it is completely legal to do this and the government is aware of this practice, their lawyers and consultants do it all the time ...

... haven't done it myself, not yet, don't know if i ever will. what i am saying though, is that if people are serious about sending a message to the crown en mass that would be the way for us to do it -- we tax THEM! :)

... if you can count, as most of us can, then you know that if only a fraction of the total property owners in british columbia started counter-billing the crown for the action they demand we take every year regarding our own private property then they would receive a very powerful message from us to back the hell off ...

... and if the crown refuses to pay the countertax then you would just deduct that amount from the property tax bill you pay ...
