So one would argue that the Liberals were elected democratically but as far as the House goes, now that they won 50 seats, everyone else should just go home. I mean what purpose do the other minority seats serve now exactly?

We all knew the rules to the election and the electoral system. We had an opportunity to change it last decade. Although the rules of the referendum made it extremely difficult for electoral reform to pass, it didn't. This is the system we have and these are the results. I don't like the current electoral system, but until we change it, this is what we have to live with.
