I am 19 years old and my parents suggested me to do a 1 year course as a sterile supply technician for better income then peruse something else later on if I want to. Would it be a good idea to go to college and take some general courses? Or would it be better to go into a trade first? Apparently the job market in vancouver is terrible and I am afraid of wasting money on a degree that wouldn't provide me a job or receiving a job that I wouldn't enjoy. What are some really good paying jobs out there that don't need a 4 year degree

Temp to start, BUT gets your foot in the door: Transit CUSTOMER INFORMATION CLERKS! 4th or 5th posting of this year! $22.13 an hour PLUS an extra 22% MORE in lieu of benefits while "temp" status.

www.translink.ca/drive and THEN Click onto Coast Mountain Bus Company.

Any interest in becoming a Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice? $20 to start! Also on that link listed above! They'll PAY you to become a Mechanic!

Maybe browse: www.civicinfo.bc.ca/16.asp or your own local city/municipal website for info and ideas.

Tons of Healthcare jobs too: Google Vancouver Coastal Health, as well as Fraser Health for ideas!

Shaw was looking for 250 Call Centre staff last week as well!

WorkSafeBC still occasionally hires temps for Call Centre and various office jobs.

    The Casinos are ALWAYS hiring!

    www.workbc.ca/ might also prove useful!
