Translink has books of 10 Faresaver tickets, as well as DayPasses and Monthly Passes...

SAVE your money! Buy in Advance! A full list of FareDealers is available at www.translink.ca but essentially boils down to all 7-11's, Safeways, Save On Foods, Shoppers Drug Marts...

10- One zone tickets cost $21 instead of $25 in cash fares.... 2- One zone tickets can equal a $5 -3 zone fare!

Single tickets and Daypasses are not transferable, but Monthly Farecards can be lent out to other people, family or friends, when you are not using them!
Monthly FareCards are TAX DEDUCTABLE!! I believe that you can get 15% back on your income tax! Some larger employers also offer up a years worth of monthly passes thru payroll deduction at discounts as well! You do have to sign up for the entire year...
Another perk for ADULT monthly pass holders: On Sundays & Holidays TransLink offers up "Group Travel": 1 Adult & up to 5 kids aged 5 to 13, or 2 Adults and up to 4 kids aged 5 to 13, can travel on ONE Adult Monthly FareCard!!

In 2013 TransLink is launching their new COMPASS pass... I think this will eventually replace many of the current forms of prepaid tickets and passes...
I also heard tha cash fares could still rise in 2013, but not the cost of prepaid fares, so you could save even more money with the prepaid tickets and passes!

Glad TransLink commissioner rejected the proposed fare hike. (source). The bad news is the monthly fare card could still be increased. Long term users should not be penalized, the rejection should include monthly passes as well.

Agreed! Shouldn't be penalized and have to deal with people that don't pay for fair at all that hop on the transit.

I should also mention that while books of Faresaver tickets and individual Daypasses technically don't expire until validated, TransLink will be phasing out the current types of tickets and passes, and replacing them with their new "Compass" system in 2013....

Also, fares a-r-e- increasing by 10% in Janaury 2013 too!! That was approved way back in 2009... TransLink was recently looking for more than that but the larger increase request was denied, contributing to the current "funding crisis", and potential lay offs....

So, if you are buying any Faresaver tickets, you might want to stock up with an extra book or two to then be paying the lower fares in early 2013...

TransLink staff will be getting trained later on this year on the new passes and "tap on-tap off" system...

Just thought it was worth reposting this. Stock up NOW on FareSaver tickets (and DayPasses) at 2012 rates. Continue using them in 2013, even though the rates will be going up as of January 1...
Eventually, like 2014 or even later, all current types of fare tickets and passes will be REPLACED by the new Compass pass...

Fares are set to increase 10% as of January 1, 2013... you DON'T have to add extra coins to use 2012 FareSaver tickets in 2013...
They are programmed for ZONE value, not $$$ value. A two zone ticket is a two zone ticket, regardless of what $$$ value is printed on it...
