All four images that Tanya Doskova submitted for the 2011 adjudication are recipient of national and international awards for Excellence in Illustration. They were published in the highest profile in the industry magazines (Communication Arts Magazine). Two of the images were the poster images for the Biggest USA Art Festivals (Sausalito, San Francisco and Woodlands, Houston).

One of the images submitted was executed in Stone Lithography and the other three were digital oil paintings. Tanya Doskova had received seven awards for excellence when using these techniques in UK, Canada and USA.

Tanya Doskova was recently selected to be The Featured Artist for 2011 Fall Tempe, AZ and for Spring 2012 Bayou City Memorial Park Art Festival.

The published criteria by which arts & crafts are judged at the CMHC art&craft Adjudication are:
Technique and Workmanship (50%); Originality and Creativity (40%); Suitability (10%)

The artists have to pay $30 to be adjudicated, but also have to sign a document stating that:
Regardless of outcome, no critique will be offered, the decision of the jury is final and the artist agrees to indemnify and save harmless CMHC and its employees from any and all claims, actions, damages, liability and expenses arising from the Craft Adjudication.

There is no published criteria for the qualifications of the person(s) selecting the jury. There is also no published criteria for the necessary qualifications of the jury. The qualifications of the jury and the names of the jury are never revealed. There is no public record of the adjudication process. The names of the adjudicated artists are never published.

Tanya Doskova went trough the adjudication process in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 and her art was accepted. During the 2011 adjudication her art was rejected.

They are so many successful artist and craftsmen that had suffered over the years trough this nontransparent and wide open for administrative and all sorts of abuse process.

The question is: Who has the guts to do something about it or are talented artist going to tremble during every adjudication?

To the attention of Alma Lee, CM, D.Litt:

It is important that Alma Lee is made aware of the problem of Fairness
issues to do with Arts & Culture matters at Granville Island Market.

Alma Lee is on The Trust Advisory Board at Granville Island.

She should know that while she is protesting and speaking out and blogging
against the BC arts cuts in the 'Stop BC Arts Cuts' blog, an award wining and self supporting artists
like me instead of being celebrated have their livelihoods destroyed,
trough meaningless and corrupted management bureaucratic procedures in the Granville Island
    Market 'Catch 22' adjudication process.
