Best place in the city for stargazing and watching meteor showers?

With the peak of the Perseids meteor shower coming soon, I'm wondering where there's a good place that's relatively isolated from city light pollution? A nice dark place where you can just sit and watch the stars in peace.

I would imagine UBC and the Spanish Banks area would be decent, anyone know or have any other ideas?

    Thanks.
