Will antibiotics of the future be cultured/isolated from human breast milk?

    http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/814970_2

"Mothers may thus be considered as immune 'factories', providing infants with antibodies that prevent, postpone or attenuate diseases caused by pathogens in their environment. In contrast to most therapeutics and immunizations, breast milk displays the unique potential to adapt itself to the requirements of the infant. "

I'll bet it does wonders for sick adults too....

Antibodies are different than your prototypical antibiotic because they're much more complex. Synthetic antibodies requires a lot of fancy expensive techniques.
They're already being used in one form for treatment of certain cancers and inflammatory conditions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoclonal_antibody.

Culturing antibodies from human breast milk directly would entail a lot of ethical and contamination concerns. It also wouldn't be easy to scale up production. They could probably isolate the antibodies in breast milk and then replicate them using genetically modified mice for production.

Genetically engineered goats are already producing pharmaceuticals in their milk. Such livestock are called pharmagoats.
