... STAR WARS really has taken merchandising to a new level, but this is too much ...

... the lettuce i buy is now STAR WARS lettuce! it's got the STAR WARS logo on it plus an image of a robot from the new series ...

... to me, this is crass and it denigrates my feelings about this lettuce brand. it makes it seem artificial and less healthy ...

... what do you think? is STAR WARS produce in the grocery store taking merchandise tie-ins too far?

    ... thoughts?

ya that's a bit much in my opinion.
Those apples better be worth it. People may still collect the bags though and find a way to integrate them into some sort of artwork...who knows.

... lol. yes, good point, dedicated STAR WARS fans might collect them as memorabilia ...

... thanks for your comment, Mikey!

... another unsettling thing about all the STAR WARS food merchandising is the use of the word "wars." food is supposed to be peaceful and should never have connotations of conflict attached to it, even if it is from a movie ...

Dude, they have a Star Wars stormtrooper toaster at Canadian Tire, and I saw a Darth Vader cutting board at Electronic Boutique :).
It's also about the geek culture, which is totally fine and also awesome as well. While I don't collect much right now and I've never been to a comic con or any convention in a long time, its a nice way to distract from the tough things going on in the world.

... gen xers and boomers might recall that in the era of u.s. president RONALD REAGAN, STAR WARS was a term used to reference satellites used for military purposes. is this marketing a cryptic warning about a tech war taking place?

... marketing oversaturation of anything is a sign that its demise is near. has STAR WARS marketing peaked out? we'll have to wait and see ...
