Where Have All The Peaches Gone?

    Gone to exports everyone.....

So it's peach season and the Okanagan is full of plump local peaches and yet.....I can't find any local peaches in the grocery store at all.

I went to a large, local grocery chain last night only to see that the peaches for sale there come from the U.S.......really?

So where have all of our local peaches gone. Clearly they are all being exported. Do growers actually earn more from exports and that's why there's little to none left for local people to consume? does the government subsidize exported peaches making export more profitable?

    what is going on?

I visited four (4) different greengrocers up on Broadway yesterday afternoon all had Okanagan Peaches for sale prices were from $0.99 to twice that amount for a pound.

Avoid chain stores/support local independents and learn to think/act for yourself.

Also all kinds of gorgeous delicious Okanagan Nectarines on offer.
