I am disabled now and cannot carry grocery bags, but when I was able bodied, it was so difficult to not have a car and to have to do grocery shopping. Why is there no room on buses for people's stuff?!

overhead wracks or something is much needed. How can people shop for their family and take the bus? or buy a piece of furniture....anything.

... what you say is true, flutterby. it can be difficult to travel on transit with groceries and other purchases. i don't drive anymore, so i know what you're talking about. and the thing is, the bus isn't very busy where i am, but in the city it's a different matter altogether. as far as big purchases are concerned, many stores will deliver goods for you, for an extra fee of course. i've had a couple of items i've purchased delivered to my home. another option is to take a taxi home if you've bought oversize stuff ...

... something else came to my mind about this subject after i'd logged of the internet the other day and that is that some grocery stores will deliver purchases to homes. i know of one grocery store here where i live that does, maybe they all do i don't know. it's something i've thought about myself, should i ever become incapacitated ...

    ... good subject!

That's true Mechanic. But you have to go to the store and make your purchases first. You cannot order online or over the phone, which would be really helpful. But it does solve the 'no room on the bus for grocery bags' problem; i agree. But what about luggage, or a pet....? You still need to taxi to cart those around.

@flutterby Walmart has free shipping and same prices as in store. Save on Foods is also starting an online shopping service, check if it's available in your area. Lastly, there's SPUD which comes at a premium.

Edit: Looks like Walmart modified their free shipping, now there's a $50 minimum for home service.

Don't waste your money on these stupid things. I have had like 4 of them in a period of two years and they either fell apart, or some drunken bum fell on it and broke my wheel off or something. Complete POS!

Why didn't I think of that? Overhead racks on buses, just as they have on airplanes. Flutterby, that is a splendid suggestion. And I'm sorry about your disability.
