Just a note that the CUSTOMER INFORMATION CLERKS CASUAL posting ends today... BUT it does pop up 2 or 3 times a year....
Another similar entry level type posting that pops up from time to time includes FAREBOX ATTENDANT, FAREBOX RECEIPTS ATTENDANT, LOST PROPERTY CLERK...

Coast Mountain Bus Company continues to accept new applications for both CONVENTIONAL & COMMUNITY TRANSIT OPERATOR TRAINEES...

BC Ferries is looking to fill their annual Seasonal jobs as of this month as well....

Lots of new opportunities up over at www.civicinfo.bc.ca/16.asp

You should also check with your own and neighbouring city & municipal websites as well....

If there is one thing I can teach you/inform you about: DON'T just look at any website o-n-c-e-, and think that's it... You MUST check back often! Opportunites come and go!
Many opportunities do start out as Casual or Temporary, BUT that can lead to more permenant opportunities...

The city of Vancouver (and every city and municipality for that matter) has a website, with a careers section... On that Careers section is a seperate SHORT TERM/ON CALL page...

Opportunities come and go, but currently there are about 8 or 9 SHORT TERM/ON CALL type job postings!

Gets your foot in the door! Union wages...

Don't bank on getting this job if you haven't done something like this before. A lot of people apply for it and your resume will never even get looked at.

Figure out what skills you have. Rank them from highest paying to lowest paying. Figure out how much money people earn for those skills. Hilight those skills during your interview, show the employer that you are ambitious and not a quitter. Demonstrate some interpersonal skills to show you can get along with other employees. Believe it or not, employers look for potential managerial types because they want people who will do more work for less pay. Think about it, wouldn't you? Hiring employees can cost a lot often with little ROI if that employee does a bad job.

In my opinion all jobs whether $11 an hour or $30 an hour are all the same. You work hard for someone else and have little to no time for yourself. Your evenings and weekends are usually spent working. You miss all your friends and family's special events. Don't bank on your job to save your life. There are better long-term strategies than just relying solely on a job. Trading all your time, maybe even your whole life just to pay your bills isn't a good strategy for most people.
