Because I was injured I really can't wash my hair that often and I read that actually frequent hair washing is not really a necessity after all. Some people even say you can go a month without washing. I've always wondered how this is possible since my hair is a greasy mess after a week but they say if you can wait it out, your hair will adjust and become less oily with time.

    Has anyone tried this?

I went without shampooing for a while a few years back...
It worked out alright for me, I suppose. I rinsed it and stuff, but didn't use any shampoo. I was also using a hair wax at the time so I dunno how valid my experience is.
I've got short hair and I did find, however, that my hair seemed to behave a bit more for styling.
As for the smell, I think the scent of the hair wax covered that. I don't remember feeling uncomfortable not washing it with shampoo.
I did this for about 2 weeks, I think.. Nothing long-term. I'm back to shampooing, but only every other day now

Thanks for your replies. I've also discovered you can do an herbal rinse with cooled herbal tea.

Last year, I broke my collarbone and was unable to wash my hair for a few weeks. It felt greasy, but I managed OK. I don't recall having any issues that bothered me during that time.

Tried this a few years ago for about a month or two. It did not turn out too well. My hair was just constantly greasy and did not adjust. Not to mention it smelled bad.
