Why do brown people buy so many jugs of milk?

Whenever I go to Superstore (especially the Marine Drive one), I see Indian families with shopping carts packed with 4L milk containers. I'm sure we've all seen this and I know I'm not the only one curious. What could they be cooking or doing that requires so much milk?

 

That's a sneaking fast snapshot you got there. Brown people all their family members live together not like white people who move out from their parents.

 

India has a tradition that extended family members live together in one house, which easily goes to more than 10 or even 20 people under one roof...

What? you buy less than 4L of milk? I do it to replace my blood with milk so when the cow zombies rise against us they won't be able to tell the difference

 

Off facebook. one family with 3 shopping carts full of milk (3rd one is tucked behind the 2nd one) and the expiry date was only 2 weeks later...

 

Many Indian families have a lot of children, which can drink up gallons of milk in a week. Hispanics also have large families & habitually buy loads of milk. Also many of their recipes, especially for baked goods, call for a lot of milk.

 

Guess they like milk.

 

Milk has the same kind of semi-sacred role in Indian culture that bread and wine do in Christianity. Indians love and consume all kinds of milk products. They use milk in religious ceremonies. The Aryan tribes that wandered into India ( and gradually intermarried with the locals ) counted their wealth in cattle. This later degenerated into veneration of the cow as holy.

The ancient Romans were also an Aryan tribe, ethnic half-brothers to the Aryans that went to India. They also counted their wealth in cattle. That was why the Latin word for money, pecunia, was derived from pecudes, the word for cattle. The dhoti garment that my orthodox Hindu grandfather wore was basically a warm climate cousin of the Roman senator's toga.

 

Also, many people from India are vegetarians, making dairy their only source of animal protien.

 

I believe the majority of their food is based on milk, cream or yoghurt. Look up some curry recipes and you'll see that most of them are based on these, or coconut milk even.

 

I bet you that sugar in the bottom of their cart isn't exactly for their tea. Heck, there might even be a container of brewer's yeast in the cart if I'm right about what they are using the sugar for. Lots of EIs are known for distilling their own moonshine in their own basement. After-all, their religion does not forbid them to drink.

 

Well when a species breeds like rabbits it needs lots of milk. Daaaaaah!!!!

Because (1)they make their own (plain) yogurt
(2) they drink lots of tea which is usually made with 1/2 milk 1/2 water
