    Oh, wow! I met someone who starts training tomorrow; then user starts Nov 7; and then Tezzer starts Nov 22! Cool!

    Feel free to share your experiences here. Just no company secrets til after probation is over. (lol!)

    Best of luck to everyone!

    FYI: CMBC is trying to bring the Compressed Work week (4 on-3 off) to all the (conventional) depots; there is a union bulletin out this afternoon stating it won't be happening until April. Burnaby already has it, and the other depots will have to wait until April.

    I hear a lot of ops want to move out of HTC, but at the same time I hear there's a freeze on holding list.

    Is it possible to start as a Transit information clerk and then move to driving?

    Yes. I kind of did just that!

    Survived driving downtown this morning! Haven't done a #32 in like 16 years! Haven't done much downtown service since 2009- when Canada Line went live.

    Got a question, for anyone who might be connected to the Customer Information call centre: There has been external (open to the public) postings often up for weeks if not months at a time; and then there have been regular Internal (existing employees only) postings almost every 2 or 3 weeks lately.

    Just wondering if there has been a high number of retirees? High number of those not happy as a temp? Increased hours?

    How many people work in the call centre these days?

    I know Farebox has cut their hours, only working every second day at most depots. Less cash to remove.

    So I passed my road test today, really relieved. It's a big class, 14 people! Training is unbelievably stressful -- as everybody here said! Be free to throw me questions and I will try my best to answer~~!~!~

    I need some help with all you Richmond ops. Tomorrow, Friday, I'm doing the C93 Steveston/Riverport route. I'm off at midnight so I'm parking my car at Hamilton. How do I get to the Riverport Recreational Complex from Hamilton? Do I take #410 to Granville@no 3rd and then the 404?? It's about an hour and 20 min trip. Or is there a easier and quicker route??plz help!!

    410 to Richmond centre (bay 7) then either the 403 or 404 to Riverport.

    Note: at certain times of day there are NIS buses from Hamilton to Richmond centre and even ones that pass RTC depot which would be quicker than riding the regular 410.

    NIS buses from HTC: i quickly scanned the weekday paddles and found these NIS buses from Hamilton to Richmond Centre (23 minute ride):

    #50/106 scheduled to leave HTC at 1319;

    #52/106 at 1419; and

    #64/106 at 1519.

    There are a few #410's NIS from Hamilton that drive right past RTC, and you can then cross the street to catch buses to Riverport. Again, roughly a 23 minute ride from HTC:

    #41/410 scheduled to leave HTC at: 1338;

    #44/410 at 1400;

    #47/410 at 1421

    and on school days only #53/410 at 1431. Ride to Steveston Hwy westbound near Hwy #99, and cross the street to the eastbound buses.

    Hi Guys, I am due to start conventional training soon, the first day will be at VTC and then the rest at Port Coquitlam TC. Which suits me fine as I live on the Northshore.

    Just wondering if this is normal? and would it be an indication as to what depot I would be working out of after training. As I was under the impression all the training was to be in VTC. Any Thoughts ? Words of wisdom

    Conventional training takes six weeks and is all done at VTC.

    Community shuttle training takes nine days and is done out in PoCo. Shuttle routes are operated out of the new Hamilton (Queensborough)depot as well as PoCo and Surrey.

    FYI: Conventional is all full time, and full benefits. Approx 3,000 Conventional Op's

    Community Shuttle can be Part time or even just casual to start. "Temps/casuals" don't get benefits BUT do earn an extra 14% $$$ in lieu. Shuttle Ops do NOT earn Travel Time. Example: If you start at a depot and finish your shift downtown: A Conventional Op would earn the travel time back to the depot. A Shuttle Op would NOT eart the travel time back.

    We pick our shifts 4 times a year, in time for Sheet Changes Mid April; Late June; Labour day and then Christmas (2 week)break & January to mid April.

    Personal advice: If a casual Shuttle driver: Switch to regular/get that seniority number ASAP! Growing/improving Seniority is one of the only real perks of the job!

    How long do they take to decide after interviews? I was interviewed 2 weeks ago but still no reply :-(

    Does silence mean you failed at the interview?
