As for what to wear in training: NO Open toe shoes!!

I'd suggest wearing comfortable clothes and clothes you don't mind getting a tad dirty in.

It took me about two weeks to receive my Compass card in the mail after my documentation appointment. (I got it on my road test day)

What you should wear should be explained in the email. For me, I had to wear a shirt and a tie, pants, and safe footwear like Superchecker said. You won't need the reflective vest until day 2 as the first day is entirely classroom work at VTC.

The employee compass card takes about two weeks to be received in your mail after taking a photo and signing documents.

You got 4 pairs of pants and 4 pairs of shorts, in total of 8?! That doesn't sound right!

In training they require you to dress "business casual".

Do bring your high vis vest on day one as you will be driving around the yard.

That would be correct for conventional, but for shuttle, a high vis vest on day one of training is not required. (At least that was the case when I went through training)

The Training Department of CMBC is in need of a FTT (2 year) Training Class (Office) Assistant!!

No wages shown on the external posting; BUT I would guesstimate in the $24 an hour range.

www.translink.ca/careers/ and THEN "Coast Mountain Bus Company".

I know no details other than what Global News has been reporting; but there was a fatal MVA in Steveston yesterday afternoon, involving a 1996 New Flyer (Low Floor) Transit Bus and a motorcycle.

    Be SAFE out there gang!!

I signed my documents and got my photo for the employee compass card. Is there anyone out there who has done Shuttle training recently? What's the homework like? Also the road test? Is it hard? Has anyone failed? My anxiety is getting worse the closer it gets, which is this Monday. Thanks, any information will be hugely appreciated!!

I'm sure you'll do just fine; I'm guessing Shuttle training is a tad easier as their is no Air Brakes system to master.

There will probably be a few others in your training class, all in the same boat. A little anxiety is normal.

You're already familiar with riding transit; and hopefully have experienced some of the Shuttle routes too.

We've ALL been there, new job, new experiences, routes we've never done before.
Generally the public is quite helpful too, they just want to get to their destinations, and are often more than happy to tell you where to turn.

Try to relax, don't sweat the small stuff. We're all human. If paper work is required, then paper work is required. TCOMM doesn't need to know *everything*, but are there when needed.

We are a family at Transit; Approx 5,000 employees just at CMBC. If you have questions; ask here; PM me anytime; call your dispatch office; or TCOMM; or on the Unions Facebook page.
We're all here to learn; and help people get from A to B as best as we can provide. Some days are better than others. Situations arise where we do fail some days.

I will say TCOMM can get quite busy at times, and occasionally can't reply to you as often as you'd like. If you can keep that bus moving: Great! If you can't: There are ways of sending pre written text messages to TCOMM so as to alert them to the severity of your call.

If there's crazy weather/snow; I've waited 2 hours for a reply! Forgot why I even pressed the button by then!

Wow... But seriously...many motorcycles ans bicycles are so irresponsible...they think they have 7 lives. Also certain people driving Mercedes vehicles.

No worries...after going through Conventional training, shuttle should be a walk in the park!

Thank you!! I'm being stupid. I KNOW I'll do fine. I finished my first pre class assignment booklet already which was pretty easy, hopefully all the homework will be like that.
I can tell I'm going to love this job... And after a couple of years, or a least a year I will definitely go for conventional, that is what I originally wanted when I first applied. But first things first, I need to get through training before I start envisioning my future! Lol
Anyways talk to you guys soon.... 3 more days!!

I saw that too, seems like every class loses 3 or 4. I recall having conversations with a couple guys from your class not present in the photo, wonder what happened to them.

    I get assessed tomorrow.

Located in VTC when you walk straight through the doors after the cat walk, near the end of the hall, left hand side next to the job postings.

And make sure it stays that way LOL
