Hy's last night. The best steak joint in town IMHO.

How does it compare with Gotham Steakhouse?

Hy's has the same steak as Gothams for 30% less. You can also get $100 gift cards for Hy's at Costco for $80.

That is what I was going to say, Hy's is 30% cheaper and I find certain items better there than at Gotham, the tartar being one of them. Gotham used to have a happy hour where they gave you a free, small steak sandwich if you were drinking in the lounge. They were really good but the drinks were expensive and you didn't get a free sandwich until the second or third drink (3 x $9).

Had the Samson and the Billy. Both sandwiches were good but the Samson was top notch. A bit on the pricier side and weird location but the food is quality. The honey lemon ginger drink was average and a bit too sweet though.

They're known for their Bun Cha Ca and Bun Rieu (#24 and #25 on the menu). I had the #23 which is essentially #24 but with squid cakes instead of fish cakes.
