... the government uses the justice system solely for the purpose of penalizing those it claims have done wrong ...

... but if it was a TRUE justice system, in addition to penalizing those who've broken rules, wouldn't it spend just as much time awarding those who conduct themselves morally and abided by the rules?

... the fact that the current regime spends such a massive effort penalizing people in their law courts and doesn't balance it out by bestowing equal rewards to good people shows just how wicked and evil our government is ...

... wouldn't a legitimate justice system reward the good as well as punish the bad? why is the government only concerned with how bad we are and not how good we are?

    ... comments?

The expectation in society is that you follow the rules. It would be an expensive and impractical system to incentivize doing the right thing.

The current justice system in a sense does give some leniency when offenders are making improvements, especially if they are young offenders. The justice system does encourage reform and rehabilitation.

Local law enforcement has a program where they give out "positive tickets" to kids doing the right thing. http://www.positivetickets.com/

There are awards that the Vancouver Police Department awards citizens who show acts of bravery such as stopping certain crimes. This is in no way telling people to be vigilantes, but a way of recognizing bravery.

    "Certificate of Merit
This award is given by the Vancouver Police Board to a citizen when, on their own initiative and in the face of actual or anticipated danger, they have assisted the police in preventing a crime, apprehending or attempting to apprehend an offender or made a life saving attempt."

... thank you milquetoast and Henry. you've proved my point that the crown does fuck all for those it deems to have done good and spends far too much time and resources punishing and hurting people. things really do need to change!

I don't believe we have the perfect system, in fact far from it, but there is no clear solution and it is very difficult to change any system.
