I ran into issues with slow file transfers across networks recently using Win7's HomeGroup feature. Scattered throughout the internet were a bunch of possible solutions that worked for some people (and partially for me).

Things to try before you smash your PCs:

    1. Disable Remote Differential Compression
Start – Control Panel – Programs – Turn Windows features on or off – Uncheck Remote Differential Compression

    2. Disable TCP/IP Autotuning
Open an elevated (ie: run as administrator) command prompt, type the following:

    3. Turn off Large Send Offload v2
Start – Control Panel – Network and Internet – Network and Sharing Center – Change adapter settings (on the left) – Right Click Local Area Connection – Properties – Configure – Advanced

    Disable both:
    Large Send Offload v2 (IPv4)
    Large Send Offload v2 (IPv6)

*Remember to restart your computer after trying each of the above solutions.
