WHERE TO FIND: An acid disposal?

    Alright so...
    MnSO4--danger
    Potassium iodide+NaOH --corrosive
    HCl-acid and highly concentrated
    and sodium thiosulphate

I have the above listed in glass jars in my house lol...(Science project with measuring BOD (biochemical oxygen demand), and had leftover--school is closed so there's no other place to dispose of it)

I was talking to my mom and she doesn't feel safe with that just in the cupboard, so she suggested that I get rid of it. Since, I won't be measuring any BOD anymore for anything. Does anyone know where I can dispose of these SAFELY?

Or, I can probably do a neutralization and get rid of it that way down the drain but would rather not open the jars.

Just give it to your high school chemistry teacher... or wait until you're at UBC and give it to some prof or lab.

You can neutralize the HCl and NaOH and flush with lots of water... but I don't know about doing this since you said your HCl turned black?

Some of the other chemicals can also be flushed down if they are small amounts I think, but personally I wouldn't do it.

So I suggest... pay for hazard waste disposal, let your high school worry about it, or try to get someone at UBC to take care of it.

Disclaimer: I don't know what I'm doing so don't follow any of my specific disposal advice.

Some resources...but seriously give it to somebody else to deal with :D. Where did you get the chemicals anyway?

Yeah, definitely! Just wondering who/what/where/when/how can I dispose of it safely lol...
LOL, school, I think I might come back in September and get the new chemistry teacher to deal with it.

Yeah, I was planning to neutralize it but realized, it's risky since HCl might not be HCl any longer since it might have oxidized from the sunlight. Gah, really wish there's a place I can go to to get rid of it this summer. =/

Since I won't be taking any Chemistry or any sciences for that matter when I start at UBC...so I won't know any profs. =/
