A VPN network or Virtual private network enables a private network to connect across public networks like the internet. In simple words it is used to extend and share data across a network.
For example consider the data connections between the computers in different branches of the same office. All the data available in head office computers will be available in regional offices. This is made possible with the help of a VPN Service .The most important subscribers of VPN service are such companies who need many remote users across the world to connect to their network.

Since data is transmitted through a public network, the possibilities of security breaches need to be eliminated. For this multiple levels of encryptions are used. Initially every user will be provided with a unique user ID and password, with the help of which they can log in to the network. The VPN service will authenticate the service with the help of a self-generated personal identification number. For increased security this number will change in every 30 seconds or so.

There are two main kinds of VPN network services. They are Remote Access VPN systems which connect an individual computer to a network and Site to Site VPN networks connecting two networks together. Even though both of these systems have similar working mechanisms they vary based on the number of client side computers involved. Most of the companies today have their networks made open to their users by installing secure and safeVPN services.
