We just traveled thru China for a few weeks and started in Shanghai. You know, I grew up in the greater New York Metropolitan area for the first half of my life. I saw Manhattan as the center of the human world. After spending some time in Shanghai and other mega sized cities in China, NYC now seems like a large village by comparison! The Shanghai skyline makes all others seem like nothing (except Hong Kong, which comes close). And the food? Wonderful!

In China, rich people live in villas in different villa areas than apartment areas. middle class people live in apartments, called elevator lives, their apartments usually are among endless other apartment buildings. check this one out, almost the same as one of my own apartments in China:

China's young generation, especially the teens, their lifestyle is very different from their parents. teens are so indulged in computer games that computer game industry has become a huge business in modern China. Young generation is future, from what they are doing you can see the future of the world.
