Students UBC Medical School Admissions: Post-Interview Criteria

Discussion in 'Employment and Students' started by caseincoagulate, Jun 1, 2012.

  1. CBC has released some leaked documents about how UBC Medicine weighs each portion of the application after the interview for final selection of candidates. Until now, the exact breakdown has been a huge mystery.

Good to see this info is finally out. Hopefully, the stupid "MCAT serves only as a flag" notion will die now. It was apparent that the MCAT was getting more important recently, but only a few posters on premed101 seem to have noticed.

With the "leaked letter", I wonder who the whistle blower is and what their motivations are?

There's the rare occasion where students with an Above Average interview and high GPA get rejected. My theory is that they use an algorithm based on the above criteria to generate a rank list and only discuss flagged applicants (eg: reference issues) by committee.
