Good job! Nice and quick... That seniority helps! Speaking of... does anyone know where the current seniority is at now? I know it's at least 836XX. Is it higher?

Never mind...answered my own question... according to the sign up sheets its 83724 (for conventional anyway, can't find the shuttle signup times). Not counting the most current/recent/upcoming trainees. Holy crap!

I work with a guy who's first digit is "0"! He's been driving as long as I have been alive!
My first digit is a "4". There used to be 11 numbers between seniority numbers, but as they got into the 80000's they got ride of that gap. Roughly 3,000 Conventional Op's, and another 400 (??) Shuttle.

Interesting! I didn't know there were gaps. It's definitely sequential now - at least within each class - but I wonder if it's sequential from class to class too? With some people dropping out/failing to pass training, there will always be small gaps but it's still interesting to know how many folks are behind you as you put your time in!

Yes I keep forgetting not to call it a cafeteria even though it says cafeteria in the front!

My class was the first class to start off without uniforms and we don't receive our uniforms until we pass our road test

I'm somewhere in the middle of the 836XX

There's at least 50+ people below me for sign up

I wonder if that's because of short supply (I myself am waiting for some shirts I ordered several weeks ago) or if it's a cost-saving measure?

I can see not wanting to supply a full complement of items in the off chance that someone may not make it through training... hmmm

In Richmond: There are (at least) 383 Ops signing up next week for the mid April thru late June sheet. A "local" sign up takes 5 days, I'm signing on the 1st day.

September sheet change will be interesting, because the rumours are Richmond is losing 10 to 20% of their manpower due to 3 major bus routes moving to other depots. Rumours always running around. It's best to wait and see what actually happens.

FYI: In September the new Hamilton depot is set to open and replace North Van (Conventional) and Oakridge (Shuttle). Routes at all depots are being shuffled around. There's MORE shuffling to come in 2017 when Evergreen Line FINALLY goes live too, completely revamping the bus routes in the Tri Cities.

Hi all, I start training for conventional at the end of the month.

I understand the first two weeks are information heavy, can anyone suggest any resources to get a head start?

    Thank you.

Yes, and consolidated will be earlier this year (confirmed by my supervisor) so as to allow for a huge amount of route training for operators moving around. Also, PoCo apparently is also losing 30-40 operators due to work being shuffled this year BEFORE the Evergreen line opens.

There is absolutely no idea how the consolidated will go... some ops are staying put and some are transferring and some, because of seniority or lack of, will have no choice (me lol)!

Personally speaking, Hamilton works for me as long as I can pick my usual later starting shifts and avoid the Alex Fraser parking lot during rush hours. That and saving on bridge tolls doesn't hurt either!

You do realize that the Hamilton bullpen will be in the Casino, right? LOL!

Ha damn... with the bullpen there I might as well forget about saving the $140/mo in tolls  lol

Would make sense to save costs on the uniform.

Not sure if I mentioned it already but class one of 2016 started out with 12 people and only 7 graduated.

I went for my medical today. Last step over and done. Now it's just a waiting game. Fingers crossed it all went ok, and hopefully will hear something soon:up:

Hope you can find some time to have a little fun too!

I had my sign up today for the "Spring" shift assignments. Stayed with the Fri-Sat off. Start after 5am Mon-Thur, and after 6am on Sundays. 11 week sheet, and I have 2 weeks off early in the sheet.

Heard about a Road Supervisor who retired without anyone really knowing! Heard about a driver who hadn't been well for some time, passing away too.

Congrats, it's a long time coming but training flashes by and then you're in the seat and boom... you're a bus driver! Be prepared for some long days/night of study but also know to just take a breath too! Have fun!

    Hi!

Do you guys know if for the driving test (at day 10 training) I will have the same driving instructors I had those previous days? or do they switch. Thanks.
