How is Blue Bus pay compared to CMBC?

Municipal employees, maybe like 10% less than CMBC.

Any tips on how to memorize the pre-trip inspection? I'm trying and it's so long it seems impossible. And it's frustrating that I don't even need to do it on the job.

    Same for air brakes.

You have to do a pre trip inspection every time you take a bus out of the yard.

OK I stand corrected, still don't know how to memorize it all.

edit: oh I see that they give you the form, that makes it easier. :p Someone told me otherwise.

Shuttle drivers make (if I remember correctly) $21.90/hr. after six months.

I got offered the job with West Vancouver Blue Bus and accepted!

Now I have a medical evaluation, criminal record and vulnerable sector check, and arranging a start date. The checks I did for my current job, so no problem. ;-)

My start date is likely to be Aug. 14. I don't think I can make the Aug. 8 start date - not as good for seniority, but that's probably the way it will work out.

I'd be curious to know: part time to start? How long until full time hours? His many Op's in West Vancouver?

Yes, part time to start. They're saying 24 - 36 hours weekly.

Will post replies to your other questions if I find answers.

My start date was changed to Aug. 17 (they couldn't find an instructor).
Pay rates for West Vancouver Community Bus Operator:
    $17.62/hr. during training
$20.37/hr. for the first six months of employment
    $21.90/hr. after six months
After six months, a one time option to either continue receiving an additional 13.5% in lieu of benefits, or opt into the Municipality's benefit package.

Hi guys, I survived my first week of training - it was no joke as has been said many times. A bit weird that those who had air brakes had to do a second in-house knowledge test, but thankfully I passed it.

Still terrified about how I'm gonna memorize the pre-trip, and a bit confused about when it is. Is it still day 9? Like usually the second Thursday of training? That would be next Friday for us due to BC Day. I can't find any info in my handouts or online login.

I don't know why I didn't clarify this before the weekend, was in too much of a daze from all the testing/homework/driving/long commutes.

CORRECTION: Training pay rate is $17.52/hr. Part-time employees get 13.5% in lieu of benefits and the chance to opt-in after six months. Full time employees get benefits. I don't know if there's a waiting period or what it is.

Sign up for September is pretty well finished, I think the final 40 or so newbies sign tomorrow.

Richmond is full. 80 Operators chose to transfer into Richmond, and 7 chose to leave. Richmond needed more operators to cover the #49 service.

We'll be picking our 2018 vacation weeks next, in late Sept or early in Oct.

Note: no sign up reliefs for vacation sign ups. If you can't be there in person: leave as choice slip! Look for bulletins after labour day.

FYI: Richmond depot is set to get 2 double deckers this fall, on a trail basis, to test out on highway #99 routes.

One is currently being tested out by training and maintenance staff.

Passengers should expect to see them this fall on routes such as: #351, #601, #620 as well as possibly on rush hour #311, #352, #354, #602/3/4, #606 & #608.
