There was an article a couple of months ago about seafood mislabelling in the US, especially in sushi restaurants. Turns out Canada has the same problem.

I believe this is very shocking! What if the customer was allergic to certain types of fish and were to suffer a reaction from the mislabeled fish that he had eaten? Would the authorities finally take notice ? I am certain consumers will complain !

Escolar in some people can cause oily diarrhea, discharge or leakage from the rectum. The discharge can stain clothing and occur without warning 30 minutes to 36 hours after consuming the fish. The oil may pool in the rectum and cause frequent urges for bowel movements due to its lubricant qualities and may be accidentally discharged by the passing of gas. Symptoms may occur over a period of one or more days. Other symptoms may include stomach cramps, loose bowel movements, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, and vomiting.
