I was thinking this new generation has so many opportunities in front of them, with all this technology. But on the one hand they also have been brainwashed by pop culture, so it goes both ways. I think everyone needs balance in their life, and that this new generations, for sure are lacking that.

here are some great articles about the matter if you want some other sources, i found these :

I'd argue that there's always those that will thrive in a certain environment and those that won't. It's nothing new and is a dilemma that is faced by every generation.

Every generation has sat on its buttocks and pontificated to the next one. Sure, today's young are making their mistakes. I consider tatoos to be one of them. Yet overall, I am proud of our free-spirit and open-minded young.

It's not the technology, it's the poor quality of education these days. No one learns things to really understand them, only as a means to a profitable and quick end-point. Capitalism or the perversion of said that we have now is what keeps education so dumbed-down. Reductionism is evil and it's how education has been turned into a commodity like everything else. Kids aren't taught to think, they're taught to get the right answer for the test.
