How often do you wash your jeans?

I'm guilty of not washing my denim very often, at least now I know bacteria isn't a concern .

Josh Le donned the same pair of skin-tight jeans for 15 months without washing them. Curious about the health risks of wearing such a grubby garment, Le asked his textile professor to test the jeans for bacteria before he washed them for the first time. The results showed high counts of five different kinds of bacteria in the denim, but nothing that posed a health hazard.

Human Ecology professor Rachel McQueen said the highest recordings of bacteria were found in the crotch of the jeans at 10,000 units per square centimetre, with lower readings in the back and front of the pants. But the colonies were normal skin bacteria and did not include dangerous E. coli. “I didn’t see any evidence of those, but that could be very unique to Josh. I mean, he wore underwear, which can be helpful,” she said.

McQueen said what was most surprising was a second test she did on the jeans after they were washed and Le wore them again for another 13 days. The results were about the same. She said while the bacteria didn’t pose a risk for a healthy, strong young person, she recommends that people wash their jeans more often — at least once a month. “I would suggest washing your jeans more frequently. But that is more for control over the odour,” she said.

i wear my jeans straight for a week at a time. sometimes i don't wash them after that... then i wear them again when i cycle through my other jeans.. then maybe i'll wash 'em

hmmm washing jeans!! LOL. may be after 2 weeks but not before that definitely....

I wash my jeans when they get dirty, Once in two weeks and I have 4 jeans in different colours, I take turns, pick what I like and wear them.

Once every three weeks or so. If I wash them too much the material gets warned out. I buy cheap kids sized jeans from that Indian place at Metrotown. It's across from Randy River.

About every 3 weeks but I only wear them a couple of hours a day for my cleaning job. I hate jeans, never found any that suit me or fit properly so I tend to go for more 'trouser jeans'.

I love to wear it. Infect 2 hours ago i have bought 4 new jeans. Usually i dip it into the water for some time and then wash it with hand simply. That's it. After 2 weeks i wash my jeans. But not wear it for two weeks.

Lots of sweat on my ass and under my knees. I spray axe body spray on my jeans before I go to bed. The Kilo axe body spray is my favorite. All the other ones have yucky smell. Kilo makes your clothing smell new.
