They jacked the prices up. https://play.google.com/

Looks like they are keeping the Nexus 5 and discontinuing the 7 and 10 tablets.
According to http://www.google.com/nexus/, they're featuring the Nexus 5 along the new devices. Not sure if they will be doing a refresh on the 5. If not, I hope there will be a price drop.

I personally find the Nexus 6 way too big for a phone.

Yes the nexus 6 is too big and at $699 it is way too expensive. The Nexus 4 was known as the budget $300 phone that was just as good as the $699 Galaxy S4. Same can be said for the $400 Nexus 5 vs $699 Galaxy S5. The Nexus 6 at $699 breaks that chain. What were they thinking. The Nexus One was my first Nexus phone back in 2009. Wasn't my first android though.

PS: I browse the forum on my Nexus 4.

If any other company made such a phone, it would probably be priced about the same. I think people are having sticker shock because Google Nexus devices were priced lower than similarly spec'ed phones. I was expecting a lower price as well.
