    Youth in Action - About the Program
    This is an after school leisure program for adolescents with mild to moderate developmental disabilities and currently attending secondary school. The program maximums are 8 youth during the school year which allows for a 1:4 staff to youth ratio. During school breaks the program increases to a maximum of twelve youth with the same ratios. The program is designed to foster independence, self-esteem, reinforce life skills, and develop positive peer relationships.

    The Position – Description of Responsibilities
    In consultation with the Youth in Action supervisor, the Program Leader will:
    • Plan, promote, supervise and lead successful program activities, special events, and outings
    • Work closely with participants, parent, Trout Lake staff, and volunteers
    • Recruit, orient and support volunteers for the program
    • Perform some administrative duties and act in supervisor’s role where required

    Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
    • Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Recreation, Education, or related discipline preferred
    • Standard First Aid, CPR
    • Class 4 B.C. License an asset
    • Experience working with youth and/or others with developmental disabilities
    • Initiative, ability to work within a teamwork environment, creativity, and good organizational skills are required.
    Hours – this position is auxiliary on call
    Pay - $16.00 per hr.
