Finances & Real Estate Developer has the same lawyer as homebuyer

    The lawyer the developer is using happens to be the same as the homebuyer's lawyer.

    Is that a bad idea? Should the homebuyer find a different lawyer to use so that the developer and homebuyer has different lawyers?

    I would avoid the conflict of interest if you can unless you know the lawyer well.

    Yes, you should use a different lawyer. Actually, legally it's required so one of the parties will have to change.
