Canada's new plastic polymer bank notes

The new bills look good, it's about time our money caught up with the rest of the world. Although, it feels like our currency just got an upgrade not too long ago though.

$100 starting November 2011
$50 starting March 2012
$20, $10, $5 coming by late 2013

 

This should help prevent counterfeiting... hopefully!

Now that I look at it more, the font for "Canada" kind of bugs me. Sans-serif is too soft looking to be on currency.

 

Got to see one of them yesterday at UBC where they had a booth set up. The plastic feels a lot flimsier than I thought it'd be.

The old ones are still good, but eventually they'll be over taken by the new polymer bills. They look fake... but don't tear as easily

 

The feel of the plastic note would need some time getting used to

 

Canadian money has always had sans-serif fonts on it, going back to the 1930s.

I like the new bills. Can't wait for the rest to change.

 

Just got my first plastic $100 bill, doesn't feel that bad

 

I guess it is Robert Borden on the 100 dollar bill. The new bill makes him look mean and ugly. I wonder how much damage he did to canada?

Hmmm, I've heard of cheques bouncing, but I want to know if you got enough of them and stuck 'em together... Will this bring a new dimension to Canadian currency?

 

In times ahead technology will do all kinds of things with notes made no longer from paper but out of new, synthetic materials. Tracking ability ---- the ability of track where a note has been is one possibility. Automatic checks by cash registers and other machines to detect counterfeits is another.
