Curious? Ask me anything from how things are made to what goes on every sandwich or salad, I'll try my best to answer any questions you all have. =P

I'll also try to keep an update on any news about new products and stuff like that.

This is something I've heard about the Ice Cream and McFlurry machine... Tell me if it's true :D

The packaging of the refill thing is poorly designed, so sometimes the plastic cap can fall into the machines without the staff knowing.

So when the machine undergoes the pasteurization cycle, it melts the plastic cap and mixes it with the ice cream giving you an off tasting product.

    ^ That's nasty, I hope that's not true.
BTW: Howcome my Shrek mint oreo McFlurry isn't green?
And howcome the oreo pieces aren't oreos?

@cheeseshredder. it is completely possible for the plastic cap to fall inside, whether it melts with the actual icecream mix is in question. I don't believe the machine heats up the mix in order for it to come out as soft serve so I don't think that the cap would melt, it would probably be stuck inside there though if one did fall in.

@Meli. first of all the shrek mint aero mcflurry isnt green because we use a chocolate mint sauce for it so it look exactly like chocolate syrup.
and of course the oreo bits you think were oreo are actually mini aero bits because we don't have oreo mint mcflurries unless you ask specifically for them to make it customly, so the cashier probably misheard you when you asked for one and probably just assumed the default aero mcflurry. You wouldn't believe how many people oreo mint mcflurry or even areo mint mcflurry and the cashier would be like, err do you mean the aero mint mcflurry and then they'd be like oh yeahhhhh.

^ Do you bake your own apple pies or are they already frozen with filling and then you just heat them?

Yeah, that's probably why I thought they were oreo but I had these chocolate chunks and it made me feel sick.

Oh sadly JimJamJum is in HK lol...w/o net right now
Any ways, I'll answer for him. If you don't have any work experience it's $6.00 or $6.50 I believe then you have to work up to 500 hours.
Then you're paid the min. wage lol...of $8 something.

but isn't it is illegal to pay under minimum wage? Sorry, I'm not from BC so not too familiar with the labour law.

Mmm, the $6.00 or $6.50 is below min. wage but it is also called "training wage" so for those with NO work experience. It is allowed for the company to pay them that amount, however there are times where this is abused such as, firing you after your training period is over.

Ewww! That's sucks. I thought the labour law here in Ontario is pretty crappy but I guess not so much compared to BC!

yeah alot of mcdonalds pays training wages like 6.50 an hour for you first 500 hours of working is complete bullshit, it really depends on if your mcdonalds is corporate owned or franchise, i think if youre working for a corporate owned then you have a better chance of getting the usual minimum wage of 8 dollars ish compared to the 6.50 training wage that cheap franchise owners might pay out. Luckily my mcdonalds i worked at didnt have this training wage, funny thing, thats one of the first things i asked during my interview, about how much i got payed, yeah.. not the best thing to be asking but meh i was curious and i have heard alot about the training wages too. well anything over there beats what they pay for working at mcdonalds in hong kong, i dont have the exact numbers but it is lowwww..

For those wondering, they can only legally apply the training wage if you're worked less than 500 hours at ANY job, even outside BC and Canada. A lot of employers abuse this because a lot of teenagers don't know better.

    http://www.labour.gov.bc.ca/esb/facshts/firstjob.htm

I think the training wage is unacceptable and it's easy enough to avoid, so there's no point in working for a company that follows it.

I asked around and i found out that the hourly wage for working at mcdonalds or any other fast food in Hong Kong is around 3-4 dollars canadian.. really sucks.

rent is comparable to vancouver i think, maybe a bit cheaper but doubt its enough to compensate the wage difference. food is cheaper
