Hi. Can I still apply even if I don't currently hold a BC Commercial learner's license with the air brake endorsement? Or should I wait to pass and hold the learner's prior to applying? Thank you.

Yes you can. You just need your Class 5 to apply and be considered.

Hi Gang: The posting for Conventional Transit Operator Trainees has been re posted again as of yesterday!

AND: Confirmed: 2 Double Deckers are coming to Richmond to be tried out in service! Could possibly replace the aging hwy Orion's (9200"s) in a few years!

Class 5 is all you need for now to apply. Makes no difference if you have a Class 1 with air or not. Either way, everyone has to go through the same training process. You need to pass CMBC's in house training in order to qualify to drive a bus. This applies to shuttle drivers and anyone trying to drive a big bus (conventional)

Passed my medical exam but had to get a doctor's note from my family doctor for one medication, which I did. That's the last step done now, I think I should be officially training soon? Please don't make me wait another month. :(

Went to my panel interview on May 31 and today got an E-mail back saying they are unable to process any further.. I'm like can you be a little bit more specific?
Apparently they didn't even contact my references at all and I think the interview went pretty well too. I don't like how they don't tell you anything. Also why's there must be a year wait to reapply? Sure it's a policy but like .. welp
Such bad feeling for spending months (for me it was 3 months) just to find out that all the effort and anticipation was for nothing.

3 months?? lol, people have been waiting over and up to 2 years during this hiring process. Countless people have tried over the course of 5 to 10 years trying over and over. There are hundreds and hundreds of applicants!Last time I checked it was 600/1 ratio per hired operator.
So, in hindsight your 3 months is nothing. Try again in a year, there are thousands of others just like you.

They don't check anyone's references until after you pass the driving test.

It's pretty rare for companies to be specific as to why they didn't pick you after an interview, isn't it?

Sorry to hear. Some apply for any and all positions, just to get their foot in the door, and then move around internally.

I'm gonna disagree with others, I think you should be there for your newborn for the first year atleast . explain your situation upfront , maybe they can delay your start day, you've gone threw all the hoops and they've deemed you a desirable candidate. I had 2 classmates go threw the conventional training, tell the trainers that conventional wasn't gonna work for them, and instead go threw shuttle training.

While I continue to wait for my medical exam results... does anyone know *why* it takes so long to tell you? Each tester immediately told me I passed, except for the doctor, who seemed quite grumpy so I didn't ask. Theoretically they sent CMB/Translink the info saying "yep he's good" but it sounds like it takes 2-3 weeks to find out still? The wait is unbearable.

It could be that they are waiting for a class to put you in. I waited another month before I heard anything back from them

Kr6505, you waited a month to receive word that you had passed after doing the medical? They didn't say anything?!

Would be nice if they told me I'm in, at least. I don't mind if I have to wait after that, I just don't know if I should be looking for another job or what.

Not too much. About an hour or more a day. It's all done on computer. It's really easy, don't sweat it
