You're welcome! If I had to guess, I'd say probably 85-90% pass over all. There are some failures, dropouts, personal reasons etc. Some find it difficult to pass road tests or pre-trips. This is usually because of nerves, not because they don't know. And you do get multiple chances if you cannot pass the tests the first time.

Others have to drop out because of personal reasons like family or medical issues and yet others leave because they decide the job isn't for them. This happened in my class of 8. May training partner decided he didn't want to drive a bus and went back to his old job.

Mostly though, take your time, ask LOTS of questions if you're unclear and do the homework assignments and you'll be fine.

As an newer employee, it may be nothing more than a "refresher" as to the absence and sick policies but did you not mention you had a problem early on about not seeing work on the OPSWeb and then being called saying you missed a shift? It may have been someone else... Best thing to do is to call your union rep and explain the situation and take them with you when you go for your call in.

If anyone is curious or needs to do a ride along before training by the way... I'm doing a 99 and N17 tonight until 0330. It's not a trolley but it is fun times and usually pretty quiet if you have questions lol.

You should post that in the main forum. This thread is just for Transit job opportunities.

Lol yep there's a few ops sitting there when I drag my butt in at that time. They look all fresh and sparkly, just starting their day haha!

I'll be honest... I prefer the OWL over daytime. So many positives for me. No traffic, cooler weather, interesting nightlife...:D

Does CMBC, Blue Bus, or HandyDART drug test its employees?

Other than the full physical I had back when I got hired, I have never been tested since.

Well, there's still 5 more days to the big sign up for September; and I think Richmond is basically full. There might be some room for Holiday Blockers but that's about it!

I'm still looking at HTC. It's convenient for me to get to and the work is ok too. Also, it seems to be heading towards more junior status some there's still some room. If not, RTC blocking would be my second choice.

BTW, Janfeel it was good to meet you last night and keep me company on the 99 for a trip! I hope I answered your questions but don't worry, you'll do fine!

    Good luck in August!

I usually don't post much about rumours, but today I overheard some other drivers talking about the new contract we get to vote on this week. Apparently we are looking at a 5% raise over 3 years. I can NOT confirm this at this time. The official union notice says we'll all get informed about the new contract on voting day.

Hi guys. I am waiting to do my road test this friday but I wanna ask you guys something: I heard that new hires work out of the Vancouver TC. Can you guys tell me for how long a new hire can expect to work mainly from the VTC and from which other garage can a new hire expect to work out of in the first 3 years?
