I would pull over slap on my hazard lights,Kick everyone off the bus. Then put my feet on the steering wheel and have a cigarette. Call, security and wait and chill , While letting the little girl stand outside of the bus.

    Am I hired?

You have to use common sense while answering the questions takimg into account mainly two things: safety and customer service. Good luck!

Hi guys. I have a road test next week (that one that happens after the interview). Any one has any tips on this one?

The road test is easy. Follow the rules of the road... stop fully at stop signs, don't follow too closely (3 second rule), watch speed limits and zones (playground, school, construction), signal lane changes, turns, etc.

You will drive (more than likely) a small minivan or larger passenger van, not a bus and your examiner will give you direction, much like a road test for your drivers licence. You will experience various traffic conditions, road and speed conditions, downtown probably and a hill-park. It takes around an hour.

Just pay attention! Don't stress, it's fun! :D

Hi man i am starting the training in about 3 weeks and i am so nervous. I want this job so badly. Could you please let me know if there is anything else I should study other than the air brakes?? can you also tell me something about the pre inspection?? Which topic should I focus on most when I study? How many attempts do they give you? Thanks in advance for your answers :)

The road test is easy. I drove the 15 passenger van. I don't remember the exact route but it was roughly north up Oak st, took some side streets, north up west Boulevard to Broadway, east along Broadway to Cambie, left on Cambie, over the Cambie st bridge into downtown then headed back to VTC. Somewhere along they ask you to do a hill park. Make sure you turn your wheels accordingly. Just follow the rules of the road and you will pass. Good thing now is that you've made it through the hardest parts. It's all easy sailing from now on. It's just a waiting game now. Congrats and welcome!!

Hi guys, I took a sick day last week and received a call in slip today for an attendance review.

I don't have any sleepers/lates or other sick days, does anyone know why I might be getting a call in slip?

We do have annual reviews every year now.

We're you sick more than 3 days? Medical note? Did you fill in your sick forms? Correctly?

I've just been accepted for a Driver Assessment Session for HandyDART. I expect it's the same one Coast Mountain Bus and West Vancouver Blue Bus uses. Can anyone confirm that?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum :) Just found out about this.
I passed all the hiring process and I got the letter of employment last week. I am now waiting to start the training in about 3 weeks, i am so excited and nervous at the same time! This is a dreaming job for me and i hope it will come true. The training is making me a bit nervous and I would like to receive some advices from you. Which chapter of the "driving commercial vehicles" book should I focus more on?? Regarding the pre trip inspection section, is it enough to study the pre trip inspection for Class 2 or should I also study how to perform a pre trip inspection for all the different types of driving licences (Class 1, 3, 4, etc.)???
Other than air brakes, what else should I study??? Could you please also tell me something about the air brakes and pre trip inspection exams?? any advice would be much appreciated.... thank you very much!!!

Good work! I can't confirm but as they are completely different companies, I would think that the process is going to differ. I'm sure the basics are the same but perhaps there is someone on here who has gone through the HandyDART program?

Cool! Not to downplay it but don't be nervous. Just be prepared for a lot of work. As for what to study... in general, be familiar with the book and there are a few videos online that Superchecker has pointed to in the past.

As far as what to study... don't worry too much in advance as in training you will be told exactly what to study through homework and practice - lots of homework and practice! You will practice the pre-trip as trained at least once or twice each day and have drive time in addition to several hours of class time. You will have quizzes and tests and you will be trained in the CMBC specifics of course. For instance, the CMBC pre-trip covers things that are not covered in the guide book.

Don't get too far ahead of yourself because, with some of the differences and additional things, it may create confusion later on. You will be taught air brake systems from scratch. You will go through safe driver training, conflict resolution and problem solving. All of it specific to the way CMBC wants you to operate a transit vehicle and interact with our customers.

I hope this makes sense. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have and good luck!

No it was just the one day, I don't know what to fill out when I'm sick as I haven't done that before.

The sick plan is administered by Great West Life. There are forms to fill out. You'll get a separate sick check when Great West Life accepts your claim.
