... for the younger posters here i suppose the drawing up of a WILL might not necessarily be a priority ...

... but for those of us who are hitting middle age and beyond, and those who have assets they would like earmarked for future allocation upon their demise, a WILL might be something of importance to you ...

... have you composed a WILL? or are you waiting for the future to draw up a LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT?

    Good post.

    Everyone should have a will.

    ... thanks Bill ...

... i wonder, are there people who really DON'T need to have one? plus, what happens to your belongings if you should die without having a will?

People without assets will probably not be bothered to make one, especially those living from pay cheque to pay cheque. Without a will, the government will decide on how the person's estate will be divided. Spouse will normally get a share, this would include common-law relationships of at least 2 years.

... and if you don't have a spouse or children?

How to make a will or testament? do I need a lawyer to do that?

... hi maple leaf! yes, generally lawyers are used to draw up wills although i think you can purchase do-it-yourself will kits as well ...

    ... thanks for your reply!

Estate will be divided between parents and siblings.

If the person leaves no parents or siblings, the estate would be divided among all next-of-kin who are the closest relatives.
