Hey RNammer. I have a question sir. Since I use our buses daily in Vancouver and all the operators I've met are most admirable individuals, I submitted an application in hopes of joining the team. My question. Currently I have my Class 3. I suppose, if chosen to interview I will also require a Class 2. Am I expected to get the Class 2 privately or is that considered as part of the training?

Basically during the application process, you are required to have a class 5 license and up. It cannot have more than one infraction and more than 3 penalty points.

Training is done at the Vancouver Transit Center, you are required to have a class 2 license prior to it. HR will let you know when to go get it.

Sorry to hear about that. Try applying for the customer service clerk and try getting your foot in or any other positions.

Hey Superchecker. Hope you can help with this little wrinkle I ran into. While applying for a position, by mistake I enclosed a .doc file instead of a .pdf file as requested. And yet, the employment application page will not let me replace the .doc file with a .pdf file. I have no idea who to email at Translink to get instructions on how to delete a .doc file and replace it with a .pdf file. Any suggestions. Thank you. Richie.

You can try calling Coast Mountain Bus Company, explain about the situation, and they'll forward you to the correct department in regards to the application.

Richie, I made mistakes during the application process before, such as applying for shuttle position and next thing you know conventional positions pop up. I just made one call to tell them to delete my application, and re-submit it.

EDIT: Any other concerns you can private message superchecker or myself here.

Thanks Superchecker. Talked with HR. Was explained that the summited resume file can not be deleted. The solution is simply to enclose the new file as an 'attachment' and it will be seen. They are used to that happening at times. Richie

Hey. Just a quick safety hint for everyone driving. As a personal community service I spend one day a week driving one of the Masonic Lodge's cancer cars. Today I noticed one of our fall safety hazards out there on our city streets. The winds of the past few days have knocked down onto the our street most of the leaves falling off the trees. Last night's rain is acting as a lubricant under all the leaves on the streets. It is slippery in places, especially if one is coming up to an intersection and attempting to stop one may find their stopping distance lengthened a few meters. Please drive 'forward' everyone, watch for the wet leaf covered spots, and begin your braking a few meters earlier. Hey. It's all about everyone getting home safe. Richie.

Wrong-Class 2 training is included with job training-you are required to have a Class 2 Learners Permit

My bad, tried to edit my old post realizing I put out in correct information.

EDIT: To emphasise on it again, must be a class two learners permit with restriction code 15.

Well I finally got to do one of my riding assignments.

Rode the 20 Downtown bus starting from the Harrison Loop and all the way to downtown. It was quite the experience. The driver was telling me the bus in front was a new driver, 1st day on the job after class.

Had an interesting conversation with the driver. Told me he's been with the company for about 6 years, and during the first 5 years, he chose the spare board for all of his shifts until recently he got a more linear schedule with the 20 route.

Saw all sorts of action, and the diversity of people that boarded the bus.

Driver also showed me how the paddle operates and it will send you messages if you need to re-route or take a detour. Sometimes there may be a delay if a message is being sent to you directly, which it did actually happened. 20 bus was suppose to normally turn right onto robson and loop back onto granville. But had to go straight and go all the way down to Davie.
