Thanks @ConventionalMan ! With much patience, it definitely paid off in the end. For future applicants, please don't try to fist bump your way in LOL

How are you liking it so far at the Burnaby Depo?

    EDIT:

Actually my interview was at 930am, ended at 1015am. And got the email I passed around 11am. So talk about fast!

Wonder how @user did on the video test? And how @CharlieUK is doing as a CSA?

Canada Line is still looking to fill up the Station Attendant Positions as of now.

Either full time temporary or part time temporary.

    http://bctransit.com/*/careers/current-opportunities/transit-operator-opportunities

BC Transit in Victoria is still looking for part time operators, so for anyone that lives on the island.

And gonna take a wild shot in the dark that BC Transit in Abbotsford could still be hiring drivers. Haven't seen an update from @ca_FTW for a while now.

Did Raj mention you HAVE to do the assignment?

I was told to disregard it, otherwise every case is different.

Hi TypeRNammer, I've just finished my 6th week of being on the job after the 2 weeks of training (8 weeks total so far). A lot of standing, and I know the Compass Card system inside out now, just hoping I'll lead to full time SkyTrain Attendant job down the road!

Did I read that you got passed the dreaded interview? Congratulations, what's next, training?

It's actually not mentioned by Raj to ignore it but it could be fun doing the assignment.

The assignment? As in, the one where they tell you to ride various buses? Do it. It's pretty much required as they will more than likely ask you if you did during the interview! They did for me and a several others I know of.

Plus it's a chance to talk to some of us operators and get some insight as well as experience a little of what you can see day to day.

    Cheers and good luck.

Nope not yet I still have the following to do.

    -Driving Evaluation
    -Criminal Record Check
    -Medical Check
-At this point, HR will probably request me to go get my Class 2 Learners with Air Brake Endorsement

And then waiting for my verbal offer and a date to start training.

    So almost there!

    Breaking news.
Posting for the conventional position has come up again as of today.
There's no expiry date. It's on a open until filled basis.

The first question they asked me when I sat down was "you were encouraged to do two ride alongs, did you do them? Which ones?

Yes, thanks TypeRNammer, CMBC is once again accepting online applications for CONVENTIONAL TRANSIT OPERATOR TRAINEES!

In fact: There are almost 50 active job postings up now: 22 at www.translink.ca/drive ; 15 MORE at Coast Mountain Bus; 6 MORE at BCRTC; 1 MORE at WCE & 3 MORE at Transit Police.

Canada Line appears to have 5 active postings as well: www.protransbc.com

And then one of my favorites: www.civicinfo.bc.ca/careers has about 150 postings up today!

Does anyone know what happens if you cant obtain her learns class 2 in time? I was given to Friday to provide a copy of my learners permit to HR. Due to an unfortunate family emergency I haven’t been able to study as much as I should have and failed the test today. I still have two days to pass it but I am worried that this might affect me getting hired.

Try to do it as soon as possible?

Otherwise ask HR for further instructions?

@TypeRNammer, since you've done a driving test recently, did you drive a vehicle like this during your exam?

Think of a U Haul cargo van, but longer.

    Vehicles may vary.

You will NOT be permitted to continue training without it. Not one but 2 guys in my class failed to bring theirs the first day and could not even drive. They were told that if they didn't have it by the next day they would be let go.

Now due to a family emergency may be different. I would call training and ask.
