Does anyone know the difference between a BCRTC SkyTrain Attendant, and a BCRTC Customer Service Attendant? The BCRTC Customer Service Attendant job description sound almost identical to that of SkyTrain Attendant.

I am no expert BUT the "Customer Service Attendant" position I think is MORE for the fare gates. And possibly just a temp job. Once most people know what to do with the fare gates, they will probably reduce the number of staff over a 6 month period.

If you did not already know: Canada Line hire separately and has their own "Station Attendant" posting up now as well: www.protransbc.com/

So with the number of Training buses I'm seeing out there, and based on how quiet it is in here, I'm wondering how many hopefuls from here are in classes right now? :)

Still looks like classes every two weeks for the foreseeable future, at least that's the word.

Another class graduated yesterday and they start Monday on their own out in the world! Congrats to them.

I know that 120/80 is normal blood pressure, but does anyone know what the highest acceptable blood pressure reading is to pass your the medical check for SkyTrain Attendant.

Hello, I just stumbled across this forum. Some great information here that could have assisted me during the whole process....

I was recenly given a verbal job offer and a start date. HR told me the would be sending the written offer along with some information regarding benefits and uniforms. Does anyone know if this is normally send via email, courier or regular post? It has been a few days and I haven't received an email yet so I'm assuming it might be with Canada Post.

Mine was emailed. Later on IIRC you will get paper copies. Congrats!

Update on myself, applied for various positions around Translink, but have't heard anything back.

Waiting until September until I can have another shot at conventional/shuttle position!

Just finished day 9 of line instruction (last day of instruction before going on your own).

For those who will go through this for conventional...please do not worry about being -2, -5, -10 minutes late with 2 buses behind you...you can't escape it xD. Heck I was -21 while doing the #20 one day >_< Drive safe and do not worry about making it on time or else you will make a mistake.

Your timing will improve over time!

A simple tip...if you want to have a better chance on making good time...try getting to 50km/h between every bus stop even if it's for a short period of time. Drive safe!

Just received an "Offer of employment" from BCRTC for full time, but temporary, Customer Service Attendant (CSA) position. I'm hoping this will translate to a full time permanent SkyTrain Attendant position when more come available. Does anyone know if you have to redo the testing, interviews, reference checks, criminal checks, and medical exam, if you apply for an internal posting?

Congrats! Might line up perfectly for when Evergreen line needs staff later in 2016!

When I was already an employee at BC Transit I did have to go thru most of the steps to get on as a Bus Driver. One thing I have never had to do, knock on wood, is a panel interview. We were simply sent to see our potential supervisor as part of the interview phase.

PS: I could be wrong but "temp" staff don't get paid benefits or vacation time, BUT do get like 20% MORE $$$ in lieu...

Keep us in the loop as to when these Fare Gates are supposed to be up and running!

They have installed 2 Compass vending machines out at Tsawwassen ferry, just not operating yet.

Does anyone know the dress code while training for SkyTrain Attendant, or SkyTrain Customer Service Attendant, do they supply uniforms from the get go?

Nice! When I applied and moved from Shuttle to Conventional I only re-did the driveability training, and medical. No further interviews or other checks!

We received instructions to pick up uniforms prior to (Coast Mountain) training starting... We were given (2) pants, (4) shirts (short and long-sleeve), (2) shorts, one jacket, one fleece vest, one hat, one tie, one safety vest and, wait for it... one water bottle! They told us we were required to wear it for training.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the same for BCRTC, but just my experience :)
