Local Starbucks Hydra

I am really concerned about the near location of two new Starbucks that will be opening in downtown Vancouver. One is on Burrard and Helmcken, the other is on Drake and Howe. There are already several independent or local or Canadian cafes in this area: BC's Best Coffee, Café Molli, Breka, Blenz, Truffles, to name a few. The Starbucks brand with their financial backing and global clout have been notorious for wedging into neighbourhoods and causing the closure of independent cafes, not because their product is superior but because of their marketing savvy, money and instant consumer recognition. I am calling on all locals who live and work in the Downtown South to please boycott these two Starbucks when they open and be so kind as to give your business to the various, unique and very pleasant and charming independent and Canadian cafes that already grace our neighbourhood. There are already many other Starbucks locations in walking distance, chiefly of Davie Street. We don't need any more here.

You think that's all they're about? Check out this video. One of my favourites. I like this sort of stuff.

Thanks for this, Mikey. I suspected there to be other issues but | didn't have the information. I'm sure readers will appreciate this.
