I would suggest applying for any, and all positions, with a company that you'd like to work for...

"Get your foot in the door" doing whatever it takes, and then move around later to what you really want.... Internal Postings!
Get friendly with the HR department... Chat as much, learn as much as you can with who ever is your contact..

If you tried with BCRTC/SkyTrain and didn't make it: Try Canada Line- ProTransBC! Or vise versa...

If you don't mind "casual" to start: Coast Mountain Bus Company has had 3 "Casual" postings up for months... 2 for DEPOT COORDINATORS, starting at nearly $28 an hour; and another for CUSTOMER INFORMATION CLERKS, starting nearly $22 an hour... PLUS "Temps" earn an extra 22% MORE $$$ instead of benefits...

If you just go to the Careers Page of TransLink: Up comes nearly 30 job postings, just at TransLink...

-Click onto Coast Mountain Bus for another 7 postings!
-Click onto BCRTC-SkyTrain for 6 MORE postings...
-AirCare is still hiring thru the end of the year...

    -Canada Line jobs: www.protransbc.com/

    Another GREAT website is www.civicinfo.bc.ca/16.asp

AND: Don't just look once at these job lists, CHECK BACK! Opportunities come and go!
Be ready to pounce when your opportunity comes around!

    Good Luck!!

Just wondering: Do you have any First Aid certification? I know they prefer that applicants have that...

Did they give you any indication as to what went wrong?
Or how long before you get to apply again?

I know they hired a bunch of STATION ATTENDANTS last fall, for the Compass Gates, but those gates have not been activated yet, so m-a-y-b-e- some of those idle Station Attendants got the SkyTrain Attendant positions???

I've been shortlisted for the Skytrain Attendant job, and I'm scheduled to take 3 tests, one is 'Mechanical Reasoning', then 'Safety in the Workplace', and a 'Customer Service' test. Anyone have any input as to what I might expect on these tests?

Re: BCRTC Skytrain Attendant FTR (5 positions) Job ID: 20140620
In your opinion do you think one should 're-apply' now that BCRTC has 'reposted' the same job listing, even if you managed to apply for it before it was taken down last week?

    Hi Charlie,

Do you have any tips for the testing for the skytrain attendant position?

    Thanks!

Did BCRTC send you an email asking to go in for testing?

Just an observation: SkyTrain (BCRTC) has a new posting up this week looking for 4 INSTRUCTORS... My guess would be that they might be gearing up to do some major hiring for the **NEW** Evergreen Line due to open late next year! One would think that if they are hiring Instructors, they'll need them soon to do some Instructing!

You MIGHT want to keep an eye on their ever changing list of opportunities: www.translink.ca/drive and THEN "BCRTC"

Hi I my mother has a interview next week and she wants to study for the mechanical reasoning part but i can't fine much for her can anyone tell me what it looks like or can send me a nice study guide.

    Thanks again

If your "Mother" has an interview that means she has already taken, and passed the testing, which includes "mechanical reasoning"! It's sounds more like she has been invited in for the "Test", and not an "interview"! Anyhow, the "mechanical reasoning" part of the test is mostly questions about gears, pulleys, levers, weights and speed. Try and study gear ratios, and their direction they travel and speed outcomes.
Take a look at this test, and try and find similar ones online. This one is maybe a bit easy, but it'll give you an idea of what to look for.

    Hope that helps!

Just noticing a new INTERNAL (open to existing employees only) job posting up for 5 temp SKYTRAIN ATTENDANTS. If not filled internally, this posting *might* go external in approx one week.

Might keep and eye on list of opportunities under "BCRTC" off of the www.translink.ca/drive link

I never saw this posting internally, I did see the other one for the 5 temp SkyTrain Attendants posted in my crew room, any thoughts on why that may be Superchecker?

The posting for 5 was an internal posting.

This new one for 6 is open to the public.

I don't know why. I could assume that it could be for extra staff for Compass implementation. Or maybe there have been some vacancies open up as BCRTC gets ready for the Evergreen Line in about a year.

Expo line is 30 years old, maybe there are more than a few retiring??

    Hi all,

I recently applied for the PTR Skytrain Attendant position, went through the interview, did the medical exam and handed in the criminal record last week. However, I still haven't got the offer yet. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the offer?

    Thanks in advance.
