You can strike up individual "conversations" here with members, or "PM" others over on memebee

I try to keep my ear to the ground so as to hear what's happening in Training, but as far as I know they are continuing with classes every 2 weeks... Classes range in size from 6 to 16 or more...

I had heard a couple of months ago that there were roughly 2 or 3 per class not graduating/passing the 6 weeks training period...
Then CMBC decided to cut 30,000 hours out of Shuttle as of Sept 1, so there was a push on to try and get roughly 25 Shuttle Op's to apply to switch to Conventional before Sept 1...

There are always plenty of rumours around, and one of the latest is that all the Senior Op's that are still around from when Transit left BC Hydro (1981) are coming up on their magical 35 years of service, so there should "be a bunch" (100?) retiring shortly after 2015-16... But on the flip side, no one has to retire at 65 anymore...

There are roughly 3,000 Conventional Ops. And there will always be roughly 3,000 Conventional Ops... Whether guys retire, quit, die, or move into other positions, there will always be a need for new Operators...
It just boils down to how many and how often....

On this note, if you see quoted text, clicking the arrow next to "_____ said:" will bring you back to the original post regardless of where you are, even if you're in a different thread. For posters, clicking "+Quote" on the bottom right of each pot allows you to quote multiple posts across different threads.

Hi folks! I got through the first round of cuts for the CMBC Customer Information Clerk, and wanted to know what the interview process was like, because that's the next step for me.

Not sure if she still pops in here, but JaneDOE went thru the process back in May/June and posted a couple of responses...

    Good Luck!
If you didn't already know: The call centre is open 6:30am til 11:30pm every day of the year...
    Located near Gateway Station...
I'd assume that you'll start out as "Casual" which generally means 2 assigned shifts per week and on call for up to 2 more as needed...
Rarely more than 30 hours a week...
Always movement in there, you'll have access to internal postings and usually "regular" status in short order....

    Hello! Happy September!

Just chatting online with a new trainee who's telling me that there is a new "Conventional" training class of 8 that started this week...

That Serviceperson job posting ends today! Act fast if interested!

Noticing over on that Careers page of www.translink.ca/ a NEW link added for "WCE" and a new job posting up there for an Accounting Assistant...

The "CASUAL to start": CUSTOMER INFORMATION CLERK ($21.74 an hr) and DEPOT COORDINATOR ($27.42 an hour) postings are still up and active over on the Coast Mountain Bus Company link....

For those looking for information about the hiring process and the Video test, there may be some helpful posts from previous applicants both here and also over at www.memebee.com/vancouver/index.php and then go into the employment sub forum... Both threads have years worth of posts...

Opportunities come and go... Be ready to pounce when yours pops up....

Another site worth keeping an eye on: www.civicinfo.bc.ca/16.asp

    GOOD LUCK!

Well... If you have a good/clean class #5 license, and want to give the application process a try: go to www.translink.ca/drive and click onto BUS OPERATOR OPPORTUNITIES for all the details on the hiring process. wages, recruitment steps, etc...

Coast Mountain Bus has NOT been accepting applications for Bus Operators since the 3rd week of June, but just this past Thursday started accepting applications again for Community Shuttle (Mini buses/Part Time) Operator Trainees...

There are a number of other job postings at all of the various subsidiaries and contractors... Opportunities come and go...

If Driving isn't in the cards right now: How's about CUSTOMER INFORMATION CLERKS? Almost $22 an hour PLUS "Temps" earn an extra 22% MORE instead of benefits... Do that for 6 months, or a year, and then apply for driving...
