    Hey Superchecker,

Thanks for all the info that you gave. Guess i'm gonna have to work while going through the whole process of the application. I do wish I get in. Since arriving in Canada I have always liked driving around and driving a bus would really be a good experience. Thanks again Superchecker.

    Good Luck!

Were there "many" people at the testing session?

There were quite a few. More or less 20 applicants attended the Video Test. I was expecting like 10 or less. And the examiner told us that they will only be hiring 2 applicants so it's going to be quite a slim chance. Hopefully I get to be one of those two.

Wow, only like 10% pass rate???

Well, if you want to improve your chances here, apply for e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g- on the job board that interests you, you can get your foot in the door doing just about anything and then move around later...

SkyTrain BCRTC has a posting up for 6 SkyTrain Attendants, and they make what bus drivers make!

Other opportunities do pop up from time to time...

I thought once you apply for a position and get to take the test you need to wait another 6 months before you could apply for another position. Can I really apply for another position before the 6 months ends?

Just an update for everyone on the amount of time it takes to get hired:

    1. You must complete all 8 steps before going on the waiting list for a training class. These 8 steps took me: 3 mths from when I applied and 2 months from the video testing.

    2. There is currently a 2 month waiting period to get into a training class, after you complete the 8 steps. Classes are full for the next couple of months, so they may stop hiring soon, if they are only taking a couple of people writing the video testing, as stated above.

= Total wait time now: 5 mths from when first applying and 4 mths from video testing. It's a long process so it's good to have a backup plan or a job, for at least 3-4 months until you may be hired.

    Good Luck!

Just noticing that the CONVENTIONAL TRANSIT OPERATOR TRAINEE job posting has been re-posted as of Mar 5, for those of you waiting a specific amount of time before re-applying....

Does that mean that all of us who took the Video test failed? If it's up again that must mean no one passed.. out of 20 applicants.. wow..

I was curious to know about the initial medical testing with CMBC, do they test for marijuana? Not that i'd ever do it close to my shift, just good to know if I should cut it out before the test. Thanks

Keep trying!! I think you are able to apply every 6 months now, from what I was told in my panel interview. It took me 2 times to pass the panel interview, so I think it looks good when you keep applying, it shows you are interested in the job. Good luck!

You can apply for as many positions as you like. But once you have passed the panel interview stage, you should just continue on with that position.

Great news! Panel interview is the hardest stage! After making it past that, the other steps are pretty basic and just take a bit of time.

I recently made it through all the stages and you are looking at around 1.5-2 months to make it through the rest of the 5 stages. After that, you will be looking at 1.5-2+ months waiting for a training class to start. So I would say a good estimate is 3-4 months from your panel interview before you would start training.

No. They usually let you know your results by email within a couple of days. They have been re-posting the conventional driver position for the past couple of months, so it looks like they are still hiring. The number of new people they hire changes from week to week, based on the number of people who quit or are retiring.
