I'm with Wind now. Only pay $7.50 a month for 6 months, and then only $15 a month afterwards. With 100mins, 50 texts, and free call display. I'm starting a windmobile forum.

I've been with Rogers for a few years now.

How's the reception with Wind? Their phones are rather unattractive...

Been with Fido prepaid forever. Hardly ever have my phone with me.

I'm itching to get a newer phone like the HTC Evo, but I can't help but feel wasteful since I have tons of old phones that still work.

Agree about the poor phone selection with Wind.

Haha well, Wind is only starting out. But, don't you find it to be a hassle that the reception areas are very limited and the percentage of you receiving "roaming charges" IS VERY HIGH with Wind?

I'm with Fido at the moment. But, I'm thinking of switching to Bell since their Blackberry data plans sound great lol

I'm with fido and they've been overcharging me and screwing me over for yearsssss!! As soon as I'm done with my contract in March (or I might pay to end it sooner), I'm going to get the HTC Nexus One and go with Wind. Yea, Wind's reception is poor ATM but who really talk on the phone these days??? Text and Data FTW! I calculated all I need would probably cost me $45 tax in with Wind and around $80 with fido. Just hoping Nexus One's price will drop whtn iphone 4 comes out.

Cheeseshredder, I also have a lot of still in function cell at home too :D

Meli, are you sure you want to go with Bell? Their network is TDMA and their roaming charge is ridiculous. I heard that they even charge long distance rate for incoming long distance calls. I was going to get a blackberry but I found the plans of the providers as either social networking OR email, unless I'm willing to pay around $100. NO WAY!!

I know that their roaming charge is quite high but from their network I wouldn't be out of their area of covereage. As well as, I don't have anyone long distance that would call me LOL...
Oh no, I think I agreed with Bell because of this plan:
    http://www.bell.ca/shopping/en_CA_ON.Smartphone-50/Q50.details

And if I do plan to join, I think I'll do a contract with them for 3 years so that means my calling unlimited starts at 6PM
So for $50, that's pretty decent for what I need. Since I was using the Fido data calculator, I wouldn't be streaming videos that much...only emails/google maps a bit/BBM. So that's pretty good, on the downside they don't have a white blackberry -.-"

But with CID, VM (and maybe text too?), you'll be looking at around $75 a month. That's too much for me to pay for a cell phone.

Oh haha, I don't need caller ID and texting would already be one of my options :)
And Bell no longer does the system access fee any longer so that's good! And with my 3 year contract, I get 6 months free of local calling :p

Haha! I personally cannot survive without CID cos I hate calls that are waste of my time but I think you are too young for that mentality~ ;)

LOL, my mentality is that if someone needs you...they'll call you again.
And if they're my friends they already know that I only look at texts.

But when you get older, you'll have a lot of 'business' (too early for me to think of a better world now :D) phone calls that you need to pick up right away no matter how busy you are or else it'll take them dayssss to return your call when you call back (and usually no one pick up albeit you call back right away )

But, I still register everything under my mom so most of the time, they call her and it's fine so there's no need for Caller ID/voicemail for me :)
    '
Yeah I can see that, I mean later on I can add on $15 to get voicemail+caller ID+unlimited texts
so then I'll change my plan over to getting the My 5 option.

That'll be $65 and with taxes, yeah lol it'll be around $75 ish.
**Thanks to ForumVancouver for fixing up the quotes lol

Wind will be setting up 35 new towers by the end of the year http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1650363-Planned-New-Cell-Sites

I was paying Fido $40 a month. They were charging me $7 for call display after my contract ended. I send about 20 texts a month and use under 100mins. Very happy with Wind right now. I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant next week. This baby shoots 720p HD videos and a very nice screen. It's got the fastest processor in any android phone.

I'm with Telus. Wind sucks with their "roaming" within Canada structure and poor coverage. I'd be really surprised if they last more than 2 yrs. I work in the industry and trust me, the grass always seems greener on the other side.

That's true, but the Canadian wireless industry has changed pretty radically these past few years so I'm interested to see how things will turn out. I used to be on HoFo a few years ago, nowadays everything seems so foreign to me.

Bell, Not bad. Great reception in the middle of nowhere. No great price but pretty standard.
